Sunday Tidbits for November 2: Skirts, Scarves, and Sparklies

All this Sunday's roundup needs is a song and dance routine. Enjoy:

--The Dutch state visit to Japan has ended (this is followed by another state visit in South Korea, so stay tuned for that) but I need to share this video with you, from a private luncheon the imperial family hosted for Willem-Alexander and Máxima. Please tell me I'm not the only one who was waiting for the Japanese contingent to break out into a little "So Long, Farewell" routine, Sound of Music-styles, while waving goodbye. [YouTube]

--Royal Trip Gift Alert: The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are in the middle of a visit to Colombia and Mexico. Camilla received some Colombian emeralds in the form of a pair of uncut emerald earrings. Not too shabby. Clarence House is cataloging the visit on their rolling Storify blog. [Storify]

--I feel surprisingly meh about Crown Princess Mary and her Jayson Brundson floral skirt, worn to a dinner for the American Chamber of Commerce this week. I should be able to summon an opinion about the look, and yet...it's okay? [Royalista]

--Princess Eugenie was spotted in New York wearing a God Save The Queen scarf. Which sort of just seems like a surefire way to get your sidewalk stroll featured in the Daily Mail to me? (And it was. In depth.) Eh. Anyway, the scarf is Alexander McQueen and, like other retail versions, it probably says God Save McQueen instead. [Daily Mail, Nordstrom]

--Here are the highlights from Christie's upcoming Magnificent Jewels auction in Geneva, on video (including Empress Eugénie's Feuilles de Groseillier brooch). Mmm, sparkle. [YouTube]

--The Design Museum in London (one of my favorite London museums) has opened an exhibit called Women Fashion Power, which "offers an unprecedented look at how princesses, models, CEOs, Dames and designers have used fashion to define and enhance their position in the world." A fascinating topic to start, with bonus relevance for us as the exhibit features Princess Charlene and the late Diana, Princess of Wales. [Design Museum]

--Princess Alexandra of Kent in purple, what more could you need? [@WMerciaPolice]

--The Swedish royal family is expected to turn out in full for one of the sparkliest evenings of the year, the Nobel Prize ceremony in December, including Princess Madeleine and Chris O'Neill. Sofia Hellqvist is expected too. That said, these things have been known to change, so we'll just wait and see who turns up on December 10. [Expressen]
